Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - Retrofiting LED into L&M Arc housing

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Having an issue with my Arc not igniting the bulb. Double click will cause the bulb to flicker and I can hear a zipping noise from the light, but no love after that. Battery is fully charged. I contacted the company and they are wanting $150 if the ballast or bulb is replaced. They are suggesting an upgrade to their new LED equiv.
With the above said, anybody have suggestions to either a fix or an diy led retrofit into the existing housing and reflector that would yield the same (or better) output?
Thanks for any help on this one guys/gals

I haven't seen a DIY for that particular housing. Parts are the same and you can get them all at ledsupply.com and digikey.com. If you can reuse the reflector you can save a few bucks.
LED - http://ledsupply.com/creemce.php
Reflector - http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=711-1067-ND

You may have to have a heatsink solution if it gets too hot in the case.
Or you could just gut an mc-e flashlight - http://www.dealextreme.com/products.dx/category.925
Hope that helps.
Thanks for the links, it does help quite a bit actually.
