Hello to the bikeforums.net community,

I am pretty new to the biking world and I seriously want to build my project fixie/SS bike. I need some advice on how to paint my frame and fork along with purchasing some new/used parts for the bottom half of the bike. The parts of the bike that I have are the frame, fork, headset, stem, handlebars, clamp, seat post, and the saddle,

Well, I am going to receive a CAAD 7 R1000 frame and fork. I was wondering if their are any experienced Aluminum bike painters that can guide me step by step on how it should be done. I've read that painting aluminum bikes require more steps and better handling so please, any tips or prior experience would be most appreciated.

Secondly, I need the bottom half of the parts for my bike. I need a set of wheels(tires, rims, and flip flop hub), crank, pedals, chain, skewers, riser handlebars and anything else that I didn't include from what I've stated above. Any parts for sale or suggestions? I'm looking to buy above-average parts that either stand out, have durability, or both.

Please pm or reply with any info or items for sale.

Thank you very much
Andy

You will need an Eno hub for that frame.

Why not just pick up a Cannondale Track? You can get a 2003/2004 Major Taylor for about $750. It came stock with "above average" parts. On the contrary, you might spend that much building up from the frame/fork alone.

Just for fun, if this is the 2003 CAAD7 R1000, the 2003 C-dale track (Major Taylor) had the same paint scheme.

Powdercoating is as cheap or cheaper than painting and is much more durable.

I got the frame and fork on ebay for what I think is a good price, at $200.

I thought that aluminum cannot be powdercoated because of the intense heating to the frame ?
