I disagree about EVERYTHING made by Felt. I had a Felt BMX that was nice as ****. Although this bike probably isn't that great.

Try the built up version from the bike shop.

Hmm, better not tell Garmin-Slipstream that. They seem pretty committed to the lie. I hear they even rode Felts in a couple big races.
well, i've heard a lot of mixed things about felt, and i'm looking for just a simple commuter for school and work. i'm still relatively new to bikes, so can anyone tell me if this metal is of quality? the site says it's "custom butted 4130 tig welded Cr-Mo tubes".
correct me if i'm wrong, but i feel like the lower the number, the lower the quality?
Is this overpriced for the quality?
any other recommendations?
distance of commute and budget? 299 for frame?

The 2009 Brougham had a description of "Custom Drawn double-butted tubes." 4130 is not bad, as far as I know. It's identical (same alloy) as Reynolds 520. I think it would suit fine if you're not an uber weight weenie.

The only bad things you're gonna hear on this board is about the aesthetics of Felt's street fixed bikes. For the price and your applications, it'll be fine.

what happened? did you spot someone from MASH riding a Felt?

4130 is pretty standard steel. it is the same thing as reynolds 520 (reynolds is the brand name). Reynolds 631 and 853 are a step up. Nothing wrong w/ 4130, though.
Also, the type of bikes that any pro team rides is more or less beyond their control. I was just messing around w/ my first comment, but in all seriousness I don't think I would every buy a Felt bike unless it was a deal I couldn't refuse (like how I own a Fuji road bike even tho I wouldn't have bought it for anywhere near MSRP).

Felt makes pretty much nice everything except their street fixed gear bikes.
I really like the looks of the Raw frame, but agree...I'm not a huge Felt fan, probably because of the curbside/gridlock...and the fact that "Fixie" is one of their bike categories....

yeah...don't you just hate companies that hop on a certain cycling bandwagon and offer different affordable options?
*cough bikesdirect cough*
at least felt didnt "resurrect" old cycling company names and cheese them up.
*cough dawes mercier motobecane cough*
