So i have been offered a pretty good deal on a 09 5.2 Madone frame. I like my bike a lot and have no complaints. Do you think that if i pulled all my components and put them on the Madone frame i would get any real benefit or would i just be throwing away money, at minor differences?
I have a 05 Trek 2.1 with ultegra and 105 components. with bontrager race lite wheels.

If the frame is cheap enough, the existing group is in very good condition, and you can do your own wrenching... go for it.

If you don't already know the answer to this question, my guess is you won't notice much of a difference. The Madone is a nice frame, but it's not like you're going to find yourself suddenly riding 2X further or half as tired at the end of a ride. Differences are likely to be much more subtle. Have you spent enough time on two wheels that you can notice subtle differences between bikes/frames? If you're not sure, I'd suggest stopping by your local Trek dealer and taking back-to-back test-rides on a 2.1 and a Madone. Can you tell the difference between your 2.1 and the current model? Can you feel differences in the 2.1 and Madone that can't be explained by wheel/component/tire differences?
