Triathlon - Need Wheels - Zipp, Flashpoint, SRAM...

Just bought 08 Orbea Ora with SRAM Red. Now on the hunt for wheels. Top of the list are Zipp 404 clincher as I can throw them on the road bike too. Any suggestions on sites for best prices?

Also, any feedback on SRAM S60 or S80? Flashpoint? HED Jet series?

I think you are in the right direction looking at Hed and Zipp.

I will say this:
My normal advice on wheel selection is this: Get the deepest front you are comfortable with and a disc. Anything less and you are leaving some time on the table

However, a lot of road riders are throwing 80-90mm wheels on their bike.

I have not ridden the SRAM wheels but think of them as 97% of what Zipps are, just heavier. Flashpoint and Sram wheels are the exaact same wheel. Exact.
I have ridden the previous Jet wheels and they are nice. The fairing at first seemed flimsy but you don't really notice it after the initial impression.

Hed is now using a 23mm wide rim. I will say this, if you are going to use 23mm wide tires, you are probably better off on Hed's wheels.
If you are going to use 20-22mm tires either one will perform similarly.

If you want tri wheels, get tri wheels, don't think about throwing them on your road bike.

If you really want something that will work for both, the Zipp 606 is the way to go (404 front, 808 rear). Check out the Testrider review if you are uncomfortable with putting them on a road bike, you should change your mind.

As far as disks go, get one if you are not planning on Kona, Alcatraz, or anything with a lot of winds. Zipp 1080 has better aerodynamics than most disks anyways.

For Hed, i would go trispoke h3 front h3d rear if you are not getting a disk.

look into used wheels. i got a perfect set of hed jet 60's for 600 bucks. and a wheelbuilder cover for 40. i will take them over a new set of zipps anyday.
