I have a Silca pump that I bought about 2 years ago thinking I was getting the best pump made. I used to use them in the 80s and loved them. This one is REALLY hard to remove from a presta valve - like it has ripped 2 valve stems hard. I've tried replacing the gasket, loosening the chuck as to not deform the gasket, and lubing the gasket. Any ideas?

The solution is to get rid of the outmoded head and get yourself a Topeak SmartHead. Your days of ripping valves out will be over forever.

LOL LOL I have the same problem! I have a Silca I bout new back in.... well several years ago, and never had a problem with it. I recently bought a used one that was a good deal and I have the same issue. I am going to try and use a round file and losen up the gasket a bit but I have not done it yet. I still love the pumps though

The head has a threaded piece that pinches down on the rubber donut inside. You might want to try loosening the head some so the rubber is not pinched down so tight, that and hit it with some lube.
