Mountain Biking - '05 Hardrock sport!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I bought a new 2005 Specialized Hardrock sport today, at the local bike shop. We had some errands to do, so I got out and rode it around behind the store, in some rough-ish terrain, and the back tire went flat :P
We took it back to the bike shop, and they put in some slime, and aired it back up for free (I would hope so, slime doesn't cost nearly as much as the bike, lol)
I've ridden it about 3 hrs so far today, and probably will a few more tomorrow. My butt is a bit sore, from getting acustomed to the seat, but no chafing, so it's not bad.
I uploaded a few pictures of it here:

So far, I really like it. It should be pretty well broken in by now, but maybe not quite. The tires really whine on pavement, they like dirt =P
BTW, paid $370 for it, after tax.
EDIT: Yes, I know the title says 04, it won't let me edit it to 05.

Enjoy your new Specialized! I'm enjoying mine!
As many others will tell you here - loose the reflectors. They cause uneven spoke tension and look butt ugly!
As far as the flat - are you running enough pressure in your tires to prevent pinch flats? I would say you should be at around 35-40 PSI. (assuming you're of average weight)
ew ew ew!
change those pedals asap! they will start squeak in 5-7 days :)

Edited the title for ya, and thought I'd go ahead and attach one of your pics.
Nice bike. I like the new paint schemes!
Enjoy!

Thanks for editing the title.
I think the pressure is high enough; I haven't measured it but it feels like about 45 or so when I squeeze it.
I actually took off the reflectors today, it looks a lot better.
Are those 'clipless' pedals (what an odd name, don't they have clips on them, hehe) a lot better than the standard flat ones? Also, are devices available that clamp onto the bottom of your shoe, and clip into the pedals, so you don't have to buy new shoes just for that? And don't shoes with clipping apparatus on the bottom cause problems with walking?
I like this paint scheme, it looks nice, and feels really cool imo, because it isn't painted. Scratches don't stick out as much.
Maybe tomorrow my dad will come riding with me, and I get can some nice pictures of the bike in action.

I just converted to clipless about a week or so ago and I love them! I already appreciate the efficiency and the extra control through the technical stuff. And yes, they are sort of uncomfortable to walk in, but not impossible.
