also, if i decide to buy some phil wood hubs and deep v's
should i get anodized hubs with anodized red wheels, or black hubs. my frame will be a blueish green.
and what kind of spokes should i get?

It's not, that's about the right price. Those eighthinch Tessas are just rebranded Weinmann DP18's, avail. in an array of colors w/ and w/o msw
what companies make good red anodized wheels?

what companies make good red anodized wheels?
Your primary consideration shouldn't be the color. If it is, get Weinmanns or Velocities.
exactly why i asked what companies make good wheels in anodized red, im not gonna throw phil wood's on a 30 dollar rim. thats why i ask for help, i dont know too much about bike parts.

checked out mavic's site and apparently its gone. you may have to call some wheel builders and see if there are any left

I have a set of the Tessas. They're so cheap because they're as heavy as tanks. They seem pretty tough, though. Mine are a few weeks old, ~500mi on them, and still roll perfectly true.

Look around for FIR SRG30 rims. They are a 30mm deep rim and came with a lovely red anodisation. If you can't find any, try calling Red Rose imports or looking up their dealers. I have a pair, and although I like the Velocity colour, the FIR red is really nice.

who makes em?
its a rolf, which means its a low spoke count and drilled for paired lacing

youd be hungry.
I have a set of the Tessas. They are heavy as hell but are pretty strong, though mine were a bit off when I got them in the mail (as mail-order wheels generally go) but since I've had them trued they've been rolling fine. They are really cheap as far as wheels go, and if you aren't too concerned about performance, they are the same price as weinmanns and far cheaper than velocitys.

have you spent much time around them? spokes and hub flanges break often with bigger and/or stronger riders. ive got a broken hub if you want pics.

Velocity deep v's are like 60 bucks... Don't worry, every one will know you spent a lot on your hubs ;)
i dont give a **** about "street cred"
i want a set of hubs that last 20 bikes, and i dont associate myself with bike messengers.

So a wheel is tough to you if it rolls true after only 500 miles? You must have had some bad experiences with wheels then.

pm sent
go with the mavic cxp33 rims in red as mentioned earlier. I've had a set for going on 3 years now(and I ride all the time) still in true after probably over 1000 miles
