Long time mountain biker and I've recently been itching to try a road bike. I also recently found out about cross and am very interested. I'm thinking a cross bike would be the perfect thing for me. Don't want to spend too much $$ before I get more into it, so one of the "on clearance" $500 motobecanes seems like a great entry bike. If I get into it further I can upgrade, otherwise, it would be a nice "short road ride" bike. I don't see myself as a 100 miler or anything.

What do you guys think of this one? Too good to be true? Are some of the components crap? I know on the mountain bikes, they tend to mix some great components with for example ****ty wheelsets. I don't know much about road components though and the model lines.

Very low grade bike. Components and frameset are very low quality. I think you'd be much better off trying to find a used cross bike off craigslist/ebay than doing something like this.

i picked one up for that same reason about a month ago. since then ive put 300- 400 miles on it.. Its what i expected. its entry level. But just like anything else if you can keep it tuned nicely it will treat you good. Go for it its a great intro bike to cross!

If you are used to high-end components on your MTB, you will likely be disappointed by clunky shifting and wimpy brakes at the low end of cross bikes. I bought a used cross bike to transition to road riding, and ended up getting a higher-end road ride after a year. If you are a gearhead, have a garage full of spare parts, and like to tinker, you may be happy the the MotoB. Its hard to beat the price, and you can always sell it and upgrade if you see fit.

I thought MB used the same frame for all their cross bikes.
