Road Cycling - Noob Rider, Have Questions

Hello. I'm new to road cycling, and have some questions. I'm planning on buying a Giant OCR 3. I think this bike will be very good for me, but I heard it is made to keep you in a more upright position. I know the traditional road position is bent over. Will this limit my speed? Will it take away from the "rush" of traditional road riding? Is it still just as fun?

80% of my riding is on the hoods or the top of the handlebar. In this position I can average 17-21mph how fast do you want to go?

I'm a newb to road cycling, but what I"ve found on my parent's comfort hybrid bikes is that the power output is different with the upright feeling. As for the bent-overedness, I believe that's adjustable. hmm, it's just a thought.

Do you plan on using the bike for recreation, fitness, or racing? If your the first two I would be more concerned with comfort. Racing bikes are rigid and have an aggressive stance to keep low and out of the wind, and that does have comfort disadvantages. If you like the way the bike feels you will have fun regardless. Have you test rode the bike yet?

No, haven't test ridden it yet (my first mistake). But I plan on using it for recreation/fitness and some commuting.

don't worry about it. If you want to get more aero later; just get
a different stem. This is actually better, since your body will get a chance to adjust to the new riding position a little at a time.
