Eating dinner last night while watching TV. Flipping through the channels and came upon the "Vanity Insanity" show. Stayed on the channel just long enough to see someone's skin being peeled off their face during a face lift. Dinner ruined :(

It's post dinner. so... Did not see the actual event , but afterwords the result.. Pretty gross and a real horror, just the concept I'll never forget. Something not for the faint... . But, once it was my job to collect system bact. samples for a laboratory... So... I pulled up to a location we've always used.. A commercial building.. Roofers were putting on new asphalt shingles.. A worker fell into the hot boiling tar vat from about 20 feet mostly submerged.. I did not see it actually happen , but was told responders were called. I turned away and went elsewhere for my sample asap since obstructed the tap I normally used for sampling. .. God, what a awful event one will never forget..

I went on vacation with my sister and we shared a room. She doesn't like to close the bathroom door when she uses the toilet because it keeps the stink in.

My first run as a FireFighter EMT, we went out to a call of an unresponsive women, when we got there we found a 21 year old 8 month pregnant girl, dead in the bathroom, we managed to resuscitated her and transported her, (very weak heart beat and very weak breathing) only to watch her die in the ER, wish I never saw that.

I wish I'd never seen my friend get knifed way back when, that's the worst thing I've ever seen but...I was trying not to be a downer. :P

In 5th grade - at my friend's Peter's house for a school project and I saw his mom's boobies as I walked by her room on the way to the bathroom and she was changing. She was the exact opposite of a MILF even before the term was coined - she was more like a MIWFEITWAGTMH (Mom-I-Wouldn't-F***-Even-If-There-Was-A-Gun-To-My-Head).

Stabbing's not so bad. I'd rather see that than have the after effects of a suicide drop onto your hair.

I could go into detail, but I wouldn't want to make you throw up...suffice it to say, it was extremely unpleasant to behold, my friend was mere centimetres away from being stabbed to *death* (dude that knifed him in the back angled the knife vertical instead of flat, so it kinda hit a rib instead of going all the way in.)

It was in 1993 and I still have frequent nightmares/possible flashbacks and the sight of that kind of knife frightens me.

I worked in South and Central Africa in the early to mid 90's and had the joys of being in Rwanda in 1994........saw quite a few things I wish I'd never seen. :(

I was standing over the body not believing what I was seeing.

[QUOTE=Siu Blue Wind;10061204]I was standing over the body not believing what I was seeing.

a friend of mine went out on a call where a girl was shot in the head with a shotgun, he got there and sure enough the girl was on the ground with the top of her head (and brain) missing, well not missing, just wasn't where it was supposed to be, the paramedics pronounced her on the spot, that is till she started twiching! :twitchy: she was rushed to the hospital where she "died" a few hours later, I'm glad I didn't see that.

The bastard that knifed him previously assaulted a couple of cops...it was a group of "kids" that swarmed us. Anyway, dirtbag that stabbed him (nearly killed him) got basically a slap on the wrist. My friend later ended up becoming addicted to heroin, no idea if that was related to the assault or not. We both testified at trial against them, had to have huge bodyguards in the courthouse, the "kids" knew where I lived, too. I was angry with myself for a good long while for not keeping cool after seeing the stab wound/spraying blood etc. I just kind of became unhinged. I should mention I must have called 911 three times, at least. Whole thing was horrific beyond description. While I can't imagine seeing what you did, seeing someone you care about apparently bleeding to death in front of you just...there are no words. I was only 19, my friend was not quite 17 years old. It's possible I have some PTSD from that, need to go talk to somebody about that one of these days.

Lady Luddite, going from the comments that you made you should do yourself a big favour and go and talk to someone with experience with PSTD .I've been there, done that and found the talk a great help. Take care. This goes for anyone who has any concerns of a similar nature.

Not allowed to carry pistols in this country (only criminals are, apparently) and there were dozens of them and only two of us, plus at the time I was just a kid. After that, I swore to myself I wouldn't allow something like that to happen again, I'm fiercely protective of those I care about.

Thanks, Overy, could be just my anxiety disorder to blame as well, in either case, I've had enough of it affecting my life, I'm tired of the nightmares and the guilt etc, by me letting it mess with me this long, the bastards that did it win. No more.

Luddite, the happiness in your life is the result of your decision on how you handle life experiences.

Understand the situation (what really happened), be honest with yourself (did you do the best you could at the time with what you had?), direct it to a more positive state (refuse to take the blame for it was not YOU who stabbed him), learn from the incident (how this is affecting you today).

For years, I could not take off my pants and then shirt, it always had to be shirt first...
