Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - anyone ever heard of the italian company Roto?

Just bought this based on the fact that it was a decent price for a 144bcd crank and that I refuse to buy from companies like all-city and andel(no hate I just dont like the Idea of rebranded items. For ex the soma hellyer is basiclly the same as the kazane and andel crank just different name) anyway It looks nice and i'm almost posative it will take a 1/8 chainring anyone have any thought on it?

144 BCD double?

yeah it's a double it's going on a puegeot UO-8 renovation. since it's a conversion I can use the inside ring slot to have a straighter chainline when running a 700 track wheel. Also I have an ofmega crankset just like this one that is a 144bcd double and accepts 1/8 chainrings

sounds like a crappy company. and those are campagnolo knock-offs for sure. which is funny considering your aversion to rebranding.

Roto has been around for a while. It's a second-tier Italian manufacturer comparable to Ofmega or Miche. Your crank looks like a standard 144mm BCD model and should accommodate any 1/8" or 3/32" ring of that BCD without problems.

thank you that helps. And about the whole rebranding thing. I'm fully aware that this is a campy look alike but I just feel that at least the company made there effort to remake somthing good instead of just buying parts from a distributer and slapping there name on it (my ofmega campy clone is probably the best crankset I've riden on any of my bikes). the crank I bought is probably lighter weight than the rebrands today, which is a plus because the frame i'm working up is a little heavy. I still would like to know more about this company though so if anyone can send me some kind of link they find on it that would be great

It would be pretty hard to build a modern bike without parts from the big OEM suppliers. Personally, I'm going to buy the part that suits my needs the best, regardless of the label or origin.

honestly, the andel/IRO/alien/whatever cranks are probably stiffer and of a higher grade material than these vintage cranks. plus, buying old cranks is always a gamble -- I wouldnt buy used cranks without being able to inspect the tapers in person. who knows how many times those have been removed/installed?

Exactly the reason I got them. I wouldn't buy a used/unknown crank for that much, being unused is what justified me getting them. although they are old they are at the same time brand new! still not much known on the company though

If they weren't going on a vintage bike, I'd say you overpaid.
