Hi. About six months ago, I switched day jobs (I'm a musician)-- I used to assistant teach Kindergarten, and now I walk dogs in Manhattan. Which pays far better... (sadly?).

I commute to Manhattan from Brooklyn, about 18 miles RT, and bike about 6 more during the day going across the park and to various clients' places. All the biking is fairly intense; I ride a road-fixie with a 42 in front, 16t in back and don't put my feet to the ground too much. I walk from 10-6, no break, and if I had to guess I'd say I average 2mph on foot, so 16m walking.

So with 16m walking and 24 miles biking, I'm getting a pretty good amount of exercise. I have no idea, however, how many calories I'm actually burning. When I get home I sit on my ass and recuperate, so that shouldn't be included in the total :)

Since I picked up my activity level with the change, I'm struggling to figure out exactly how much to eat; I eat until I'm full but I still seem to be losing weight-- anybody willing to venture what kind of calorie expenditure is happening?

Thanks

can't say, but it's exceeding your intake, hence the weight loss!

Figure roughly 100 calories per mile walking and 40 calories per mile on the bike. That would be around 2560 calories per day from exercise alone.

If you're losing weight on your current diet, and don't want to, eat a little more until you stop losing weight. It's the law of thermodynamics, but it ain't rocket science :) .

No question mark :(

Of course... but it's so EXPENSIVE. :)

Do you eat/snack during the day to keep your energy level up?
