Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

whether it's on the trail, to the trail, home from the trail, wishing you were going to the trails, on roads, whatever. Just curious as to what you fellow riders are jamming to. To do so my favorite thing about forums....a POLL!

oh ya, i chose heavy metal. I do like to listen to almost every kind of music but listen to double bass and blast beats with vocals to match.

Hmmmmm........no category for jazz. That's what I listen to in the car, in addition to classical and NPR.

No music while riding. I like the quiet, the sound of the trail under my tires, the sound of the mechs, and the sound of my own breathing.

Sometimes classic rock while working (carpentry).

Mostly metal, with some 80's-90's punk. And once in a while I get in a weird mood and put on some pop-punk. (Oooh...and there goes all my music cred!) No matter what it is, I set my equalizer like some basshead hip-hop or techno fan would. Totally inappropriate for the music, but I grew up in a house with a bass-loving dad and got so used to extra bass that normal levels of bass sound empty to me. I don't ride with it though; I enjoy the ambience while on the trail.

VanHalen, Jack Johnson, Aerosm, Plumb, Skynard, SRV, Chris Duarte, Kravitz, Earthsuit, Brian Setzer

Rock / metal Not speed metal...it has to have some fluidity...Anthrax Bee'z,

Rock/with a HipHop flair

Love guitar oriented music w/ some craZ fly beats laid down in the b.ground.

Big fan of modern acoustic fingerstyle...none of that classical crap.

I also really like Brad Paisley and George Jones...that's about the only country I like. Dunno why I like George...probably b/c of growing up listening to it w/ Dad. Brad is a sick guitarist.

Some other random crap too.

My tastes are pretty eclectic. Right now I'm mostly into:
Switchfoot, Offspring, the Fray, Clutch, Bowling for Soup, Smashmouth, Finger Eleven, Simple Plan, P.O.D., Nickelback, etc.

For classic rock - - mostly Boston, Molly Hatchet, Skynyrd, BTO, Styx, Foreigner, Journey, Kansas, Yes, etc.

I'm a rabid surf and car music fan still: Jan & Dean, Beach Boys, Ripcords, Ronnie & the Daytonas, The Sunrays, etc.

And I like George Strait, The Gatlins and the Statler Brothers. What can I say?

Oh, and Ed - - speaking of Anthrax: Fueled is still one of my all-time favorite cuts. Kinda my riding theme song: "What doesn't kill me makes me stronger."

Well, since there was no entry for Classical or Jazz I voted "OLD stuff, 60's and before" since most Classical and a significant portion of Jazz was written or recorded WELL before the 1960's. In the case of classical most of it was written before the 1860's!

Instrumental jazz when I have a choice and there's no family along to complain about my music choices. Next choice is classic rock, and some limited choices from the country scene (mostly female voices :-). Since no choice for jazz, I chose not to vote.

ZZ Top, Creedance, Blue Oyster Cult, Huey Lewis, MC Hammer, Donna Summers, Kansas (the band, not the state), Journey, Aero Smith, Sting, U2, Stones, to psych for a ride.

Then what Kenhill said on a ride.

You church boys, ever listen to Newsboys, Petra or DC Talk?

I listen to just about everything except county and rap.

Mostly classical and opera...

As a piper, I also enjoy bagpipe music. There is some great contemporary stuff out there from the Red Hot Chili Pipers and Chris Armstrong.

DC Talk?

I am not as big a fan as I was about 8 or 9 years ago but DC Talk was my favorite band for a long time. Still have their autographs on my wall at my parents house from a concert I went to.

One Minute Silence: Waste of things to Come
Five Foot Thick: Track 4
Soil: Breaking Me Down
Methods of Mayhem: Crash
Blood for Blood: Living in Exile
Queen: Bicycle
Soundgarden: Rusty Cage
Rage Against the Machine: Killing in the Name Of
Dope: Intervention
Foo Fighters: All My Life

. . . and a bunch more. You get the idea. Good stuff.

When I'm not working I'll listen to a variety of stuff from classical, swing, jazz, pop, classic rock, bagpipes... pretty much anything other than Heavy Metal, or Hip-hop or rap.

I rarely listen to music when riding.

Chelboed: I wouldn't have thought anyone else here would know who Plumb and Earthsuit are. +1 on those. BTW, a friend says half the members of Earthsuit are now in Mute Math.

I couldn't answer the poll cause I don't know if my tastes really fit any of those categories. I guess the closest one would be metal, but I like a lot of other stuff too. Lately I've been flip flopping a lot between hard rock (STP, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains) and ... what would I even call it ... maybe folk/classic rock/70s/IDK (James Taylor, Simon and Garfunkel, Jim Croce, a touch of Beatles, McCartney, Gordon Lightfoot, Cat Stevens, etc.)
