The Cygolite new Universal Handlebar bracket is a bolt on hard mount for the Magicshine light for those who do not like O ring mounts.

The P/N is 08-2213HM and the kit includes the plate that mounts on the headlight and the handlebar mount with all parts needed to fit handlebars from 25.4 to 31.8mm at the stem clamp area so it is basically a universal fit for most handlebars.

The light mounting plate clears the power cable on the lighthead fine but does not engage the strain relief on the lighthead wire. I wonder about the strain relief effectiveness anyway as it can slide on the wire I have noticed.

The handlebar mount is installed rotated about 90 degrees from the normal position due to the Magicshine light having it's mount on the bottom while the Cygolites have the plate mounted on the back of their lights.

Can you tell me if there is any difference between the 1400 and the 900 light re the mounting bracket. I'm looking for a replacement and have found one but it's for the 900 and am trying to find out if the mount base is any different on the 900 then the 1400?

I got an answer; they are the same. Works great, not sure I like the plastic bolt and may replace it with a metal one. The light moves sometimes and I'm afraid that tightening up the bolt that limits it's vertical movement might strip it, it's plastic. It bucks up when I hit bumps and the light is bright enough that I wouldn't want it shining in some on coming drivers eyes.

OP...where's the piece that actually screws to the lamp head?

Mah BoYeee over at Hoffmanamps.com sells a similar replacement orig. built by Marwi. Bar mount AND helmet mount are very nice. D. Hoffman's actually grabs the strain relief like the orig MagicShine mount so you don't pull out your gutz!

It was included with the bar clamp when I bought mine. IIRC I used the original screw that mounted the O ring bracket to the Magicshine to mount the new light mounted bracket portion.
