Does SRAM use standard bake and shift cables or do I( need something special for SRAM deraillers and brakes?

Cables are cables. I recommend one's made from stainless-steel. And make sure to use BRAKE-cables for brakes. Shifter cables are not as strong and should only be used on shifters/derailleurs.

They are not SRAM specific, any 1.1 derailleur cable, 1.6 "road" cable head brake cable will work.

No, but there are different sizes. I'm assuming the OP is talking about the Sram road group... why don't posters ever give complete information.

That's not correct. Campy brifters require a smaller diameter end fitting on their shift cables than Shimano and using the wrong ones can and have resulted in badly stuck Campy brifters. I assume (dangerous, I know) that SRAM uses the same cable fittings as Shimano but I'd be very careful to check.

Jagwire makes double ended road shift cables with a Shimano fitting on one end and a Campy fitting on the other just for that reason.
