And what would you like to do about your broken shifter? Find an exact replacement? A workable replacement? Low budget? Unlimited budget? Don't keep us guessing...

Hi car, :)

Exactly what part broke on your shifter? I might be able to help, as I have a 20 year old Fisher that's also in really good condition like your bike is...

It also had Shimano 7 speed rear and triple front integrated thumb shifters which I replaced with Shimano friction downtube shifters...

If you can describe what's broken. I might have what you need. If you can also post a pic of your broken shifter, that would help, too.

Take Care

There are shifters available form your LBS. While not exactly the same these will work very well. One p/n is Shimano ST-EF50 for Cantilever brakes.

oldpedalpusher are you being sarcastic? I do like that fisher though it is HooKooEKoo?

as for the OP shifter issues post us a pic. you may have to go ebay shopping for a new shifter/brake lever combo. I had to do that int he spring and I somethimes surf looing for a JIC spare set. can you post a pic? your shifters have thumb and index finger lever under the bar correct?

So is this a road bike of a mountain bike? If it is a mountain bike there are a lot of inexpensive and decent quality options -- if it is a road bike you will be stuck in the ebay/used market.

Not at all... :)
I've only owned one bike at a time. (until just recently getting a 35 year old road bike). That old Fisher has been my only daily bike transportation for over 20 years. It's an Ascent... the cheapest Taiwan made frame Fisher that cost about $200 in 1988. I love this bike. It's incredibly comfortable even on long rides and has carried me thousands of happy miles. :)
