Your side have some rather dirty players - especially in the back - and I'm not just talking about Peckerman's rat's nest. :p
royal salt lake... uh huh.

royal (sic) salt lake... uh huh.
The People of the Provincial Western Wasteland thank you, appreciate your Euro-centric perspective, and while we admit to envy over your access to all that football, for the moment, we waive our private parts at your maiden aunties.

I like your coach, and was impressed with the RSL attacking players, but sorry, as a former referee, everyone on your back line would have seen yellow at least for repeated, blatant, holding. I'm not certain if this is the current standard for no-calls or not in the league, but it results in just an ugly a game as Pat Riley's introduction of jungleball as a defensive scheme did in the NBA. That ruined the game of B-ball for me as a spectator, and if this is the new standard for MLS defense, it can only serve to remove a huge chunk of what is appealing from "the beautiful game".
The Galaxy goal was a thing of precision and beauty. Yours was an opportunistic result of random deflections. I know they count the same, but as a former player as well, I know which one I'd be more pleased to be a part of. :o

eh - I lost out on what looked to be an awesome first date because she got a ticket at the last minute...
thus - boooo
*changes hats* as a former player (goalie/left mid) I am impressed by how the caliber of the MLS has come up in the (last two?) years... it isn't the level of any major euro leagues - but it seems to be at least as good as many of the best asian & african teams... quite good progress for the number of years MLS has been around.

I didn't catch the game, but I'm pretty disappointed to hear it wasn't a clean match. I was really hoping Real Salt Lake would earn a satisfying victory over the Galaxy. Naive I guess, given RSL's record, but I'm not a fan at all of the Galaxy.

mls cup was so boring, I have more fun watching paint dry than watching a mls game, La Liga, thats where its at, Saturday baby, Real vs Barca, the soccer match of the year and 223423423 times better than the mls cup.

Boring? You're nuts! Game ends tied 1-1, two overtimes, goes to seven penalty kicks, one of which Donovan misses. True enough, European soccer is miles above the MLS, but I go watch the local AAA ballclub in the summer--not on the same level as the majors, but still great fun.
And as to dirty play, the Galaxy gave as good as they got. I've played and coached for some time, and while the Real defense was aggressive and physical, there was nothing blatantly dirty about their play.
Anyway, happy t-day!
