Mine: the desserts!!!

I'm making a pumpkin cheesecake this year (and making my fiance make the mud balls since he's the one that wants them... but I'll probably end up making those, too :p), and I can't wait to taste it!

Turkey....by far the best part. Followed by the blueberry pie we are gonna have.
I think I'm gonna have to get in a good 50-60 mile ride just to burn off that one meal.

Fixed for reallity's sake! :thumb:

Mine is probably stuffing/dressing, if done well. Or maybe the Athenian Pizza I made for Thanksgiving the one year! ;)

I love Thanksgiving dinner - except for the turkey. I call it the "beige" meal - no green allowed. Even the green beans are doctored up with beige cream of mushroom soup. I love all the starches... mashed potatoes, yams, dressing followed by greenbean casserole and don't forget the cranberry jelly or whatever that can shaped red thing is. Actually one of my favorites is something traditional from my mom's dinners - eggplant parmesan - have no idea why we have this at Thanksgiving but I love it. I am not a fan of the desserts such as pumpkin or pecan pie. In my house, mom always made banana pudding - now that's good!

Edited to add: Oh yeah - the other reason I call this the beige meal... gravy over everything!

Besides turkey? White truffle oil mashed potatoes. They can even be made somewhat healthy by using skim milk and adding some boiled white cauliflower.

Since it's just the wifey and I, we don't have a turkey. Instead we roast a game hen and go light on the trimmings. Skipping the pie and ice cream this year too (trying to lose the last 20 lbs).

I keep having this dream idea of a "traditional but non-traditional" thanksgiving get together with my family. A day where everyone brings a dish that is made from traditional ingredients but is fixed in a NON-traditional way. No more "green bean casserole" or "yams and marshmallows" if you know what I mean. So far no one is interested and I CAN'T STAND my siblings or their families and do not attend "family" thanksgiving with them.

Yeah, yeah. I'm a party pooper all right.

Mashed potatoes followed by the pie followed by asparagus.

Mashed spuds, dressing/stuffing (vegetarian), cranberry sauce (not the crap from a can), broccoli with real cheese sauce. I also LOVE roasted asparagus. Also, mashed yams (not candied etc.) Om nom nom.

I only like apple pie, myself.

Turnip!

Someone actually likes turnips???? My mom always served them... no one would eat them (not when there's all the beige stuff to eat instead).

When you are practically the only one who eats them, you have the market cornered! :D

Stuffing and gravy. Making a carmelized onion and cornbread stuffing this year, that has loads of fresh thyme, some chicken stock and some heavy cream. Need to try it out at Mom's as it's the side dish I'm bringing in for the Company holiday meal (bring dish to pass kinda thing). So Mom and I are guinea pigs ...

Roasted root veggies (parsnips, rutabagas, white turnips, carrots) with roasted celery, asparagus, and pumpkin (yes, pumpkin is awesome when coated with a little oil and roasted- very sweet and earthy). Vegetarian stuffing with gravy, creamed pearl onions, and homemade cranberry sauce (1 bag berries, 1 medium apple, 1 navel orange all processed together with sweetener of choice). And for dessert, a nice tarte tatin with homemade honey ice cream drizzled with Grand Marnier. And a Beano or two. Can't forget the Beano :).

That sounds awesome- I've done a similar one with fresh sage (and veggie stock... sorry!).
