I may be in the market for a new bike. Does anyone know anything about ParkPre bikes. They made custom mountian bikes in the late 90's in southern CA, went out of buisness around 2000. I have (had) a 94 grand sport. I was recently hit by a car and the bike need a little repair. With repairs and maintenance needed it will cost at least $200 to fix. Should I just fix my bike? or just get a new one. All I do is street riding and some well travled dirt trails. I really do not know much about bikes so any info is helpful. If you suggest a new bike $350 wilkl stretch me to th breaking point.

I bought one for my wife about 10 years ago. It's a nice cromoly mtn bike and she still rides it. Here's a website on some of their history: http://www.parkpre.com/history.htm

I always thought Parkpre bicycles were owned or manufactored by Park Tools, but this site doesn't mention that so I guess I was wrong.

Sorry to hear about your crash. Hope you can back riding soon. If I were you I'd spend the $200 and fix this Parkpre if it's a cromoly bike and you like it.

Thanks for the reply. But upon weighing the options, I chose to get another entry level bike, a Gary fisher Tarpon. My parkpre has not been well taken care of (although I never had any prolems with it), so it is pretty beat up. Also I am about a foot taller now than when I bought it (was 15 when purchased). So the frame is too small for me.
