Road Cycling - 2005 Trek Specs Posted

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
You have to be a little sneaky but you can get them if you want. First, go to the normal trek bikes web page such as... http://www.trekbikes.com/bikes/2004/road/1500.jsp
Change the 2004 to a 2005 and viola! there are your specs! Changing the model number as well let's you jump between models.
:D
Best is madone52 especially with the team paint.

can't get it to work for any of the high end ones. guess they don't have the sl up yet.

I'm not sure if you're implying the 5.2 is not high end. If so I'd say you might need to lay off the doobies a little...just kidding. It's a wicked nice bike though.

Has anyone been able to access bikes other than the 5.2/ 1000/1200/1500/2100?

Has anyone compared the 2004 5200 to the 2005 Madone 5.2,I would really want to read that comparison review. :)

Thanks for the access, was thinking of getting this years Trek 1500, but with the upgrade to Ultegra/105 instead of Ultegra/105/Tiagra I just may wait a bit, plus some better Bontrager stuff I'm not complainin'.
Maybe they are changing some of the names...

The new Madone 5.2 is "nasty". "Nasty" meaning good. This new 5.2 is going to open up a huge door to people who wanted the Madone but could never get it. That's what the Trek 5000 did. You wont get the stiff light ride as the previous Madone but that's what the SL or SSL is for. The only thing that I TOTALLY disagree with is the 10 speed Ultegra. I hate that they took Dura-Ace and made it a little heavier and slapped Ultegra on there. Dura-Ace should be in a class of its own. Not with Ultegra in its shadow. I ride DA 10 spd. I will get over it. I will be watching out for that Madone SL 110 OCLV. MMMMMMMMMMM. Just my dos cents.

I actually saw the 2005 Ultegra Madone today at the LBS. I must admit I had to stop myself from whipping out my credit card then and there. When I calmed down there I had o ask myself, outside the name, how different is this madone from the 5200?
Both frames are OCLV 120 Carbon (as opposed to the 110 of the 5.9 madone). The salesman said that the madone's frame is made differently from the 5000's frame but I haven't really seen anything on the website on that. Both have ultegra parts. for the $ 100 (for now) I would get the Madone. But is this just a clever marketing scheme as opposed to a superior bike?

i thought my lbs was kidding when they said prices were gonig up this coming season as a marketting ploy, but man...i'm glad i got my 2200 when i did. 20% increase in the 2100...that brings it right up to where the 2200 is this season right now....crazy

I really like the paint job on the Trek 1000, and the price tag is just $599.
It says the Alpha SL frames are hand-built in Wisconsin, so I'm assuming the Alpha SLR frames are too, but are the Alpha frames (like the 1000) made in Taiwan??

Anybody know about the 2005 1800c? I'm a newbe with a 20+ year old Univega that I'm in the process of replacing with the Trek. My lbs is searching for one with little success. I'm wondering if I should just wait for the 2005 model.
Thanks

Wow - I like it too! I like it more than the black Madone.

Odd that the "team" Madone paint includes the USPS team logo. Wonder if they'll change that during production?
From what Ive been told, the 1000 is the only one not built in the USA.

I prefer this colour scheme for the Trek 1000, not a big fan of orange :p

I seem to like the 2004 paint jobs alot more then the 2005's.. These new one's seem to take a step back in styling. Like, new bikes with old paint jobs...
