I'm trying to take my crank arms off but am having some trouble. They, along with the bike are just ovre a year old so are held on with allen blots. The allen bolts are off but the cranks aren't moving. Are they just tight as hell or is there something else keeping them in there?

www.park.com will show you how to use a crank puller. The BB shaft is probably square tapered and the cranks fit very tightly on it so they don't wobble. A crank puller is about $15 or so. Don't try to leverage the cranks off, you might deform the square hole in the crank.

www.park.com .

ooh, bad link.

It's easy to stuff up the thread on your cranks, so it might be best to get the bike shop to do it, or you could buy one of these:
