I am definitely interested in weight and aesthetics but also looking for comfort . I am a pretty lightweight rider 140 lbs give or take a greasy hamburger here or there. I have been looking at the Brooks Swift and Fizik has some nice looking saddles. Any other recommendations? --thanks

I ride a vintage Turbo - and love it. This is going to be a difficult one as I have never used any advice but my own in this type of endeavor. Mainly because, your ass will tell you if someone else's recommendation is wrong. Usually at the worst time too.

I've always enjoyed the ol' non-gel, non-carbon, Selle Flite.

About 2 months ago I bought a brooks b-17. It felt great and I loved it dearly. Unfortunately, last weekend it got frenched away (may your groin rot for this you A$$ho#e). I went ahead and ordered another brooks from permaco.com (best prices on brooks). This time I splurged on a Brooks Team Pro. Have been riding it since yesterday and I must say dispite what all the reviews say this saddle feels even more comfortable than the b-17 (looks cooler too). So this is my new favorite saddle.

frenched away

sorry to hear man. i got a fear that someone will "french away" my stem and bars with a simple twist of the stem bolts. btw, where does that term come from? never heard of it.

I do not know where it comes from, but here is what the dictionary says:

1. To cut (green beans, for example) into thin strips before cooking.
2. To trim fat or bone from (a chop, for example).

I first heard it some years ago from these Irish guys I used to work with.

On another note. I really wish I could find someone that could professionally curse my bike and parts, so that if it gets stolen the new "owner" would develope some nasty illness, or have a piano fall on his/her head, etc. Know of any voodoo or santera priests?

Thanks! Funny you mention this. I was planning on doing this once I get off work.
Using an old innertube with the chain inside.

I've been looking at the San Marco Aspide line. They've got one with an anotomical cutout that looks cool. I wish I could get one of these other saddles that people think are so great, but so few companies make non-leather saddles that aren't crap.

Deeply personal matters, but after having ridden with Fizik Poggio for 6 months I think it sucks

good advice on the wax in the bolts and even 'chaining' the seat to the frame-- never thought of those things-- which may be even more relevant considering my recent acquisitions. i just got a Serfas Terazzo cutaway saddle (215g) and a used Thompson Elite post from craigslist (~190g)-- which is way lighter and better looking than stock. i'd recommend the serfas seat ($90 but got it for $75), although the san marco aspides are nice and can be had for pretty good sales these days.
