Anyone here wear one? Like? Dislike? I've seen people wearing them and the built in warm cozy earflaps really appeal to me. That might keep me riding right into December seeing as we don't usually get significant snow until January, but it's already cold enough that my ears ache by the time I get to work.

Or, you can try a skull cap (http://www.pearlizumi.com/product.php?mode=view&product_id=680) under your regular helmet. They work great!

I sport the Bern Brentwood:

I love it, great helmet! the thing feels like it was molded for my head. but I have had trouble finding anyone who sells just the seasonal inserts. Mine came with the sun visor, but I would love to get some of the winter accessories. If anyone knows where to find them, lemme know!

there's lots of web deals on Bern helmets in most summer and winter configurations, google is your friend. Besides selecting the shell style, your main decision will be whether you want the zipmold or the brock foam hardhat version. The zipmold foam is extremely hard one impact foam with ANSI approval rating for cycling, the brock hardhat foam is softer flexible multi-impact foam for skating and boarding w/o the ANSI bicycle rating.

Those are some cool-looking helmets, although they resemble baseball helmets. I like the customization options. The vents don't seem large or frequent enough for good venting as advertised, though.

Oh, and Indie, how about wearing something underneath your helmet? I suspect you've considered it already. Although my Southern Californian chills may be nothing next to your Toronto snow conditions, I was wondering if you'd benefit from a nice balaclava as I hope to with a recent purchase. For starts, here (http://www.outdoorresearch.com/site/browse/Headwear/Balaclavas.html)'s a link to Outdoor Research's Balaclavas page. There are other types of headwear on that site too. If you find one you like, Google for best prices. Hope that helps somewhat. If not, it'd be nice to know why you're sidestepping the headwear route and going for a completely new helmet. Isn't a helmet supposed to be replaced every few years anyways?

When I commuted in a cold weather climate, I wore a ski helmet in the winter. Kept my ears more than warm enough.

I find that the top of my head is warm enough under the helmet when I ride in cool temperatures. It's the ears that are the problem. Now, is the Bern thing just hanging from the edges of the helmet or is it a complete hat under there? I'd prefer the former.

They look pretty great, but unfortunately my Google Fu is not finding any kind of deal on an XXL. People with normal sized heads can get them for $50 at REI but those of us with gigantic heads (I'm > size 8) have to pay $70? wah!
