Thanks to whoever gave me the tip over here... the ISP was filtering per mac address... that's why only one computer was getting out. And here I also give props to that belkin engineer who came up with the "clone PC MAC" function on their cheap little router... awesome.

Now MY router has emulates the PC's mac, the ISP router thinks is the PC and gives him the goodies. All other PCs can now get juice....

Hmm...which ISP are you with?

It's useful for the rest of us out there to know which businesses not to share our hard-earned dollars with, so that those who won't play nice either have to change or stop playing.

Don't know about the OP's ISP, but Cox Communications does the same thing.

I wouldn't give ya 50 cents for a pickup truck load of Belkin routers, but yeah, that's very cool. :thumb: I've always wondered exactly what that option was good for(on my Linksys). Now I know.

The modem will refuse to talk to anything that has a different MAC than the FIRST piece of network equipment that is attached to it when it powers on.

If your router was the first thing plugged into it, then no worries. If not, the solution is simple: Power cycle the modem. Note that if the modem includes a built in battery, you have to disconnect the battery as well! This is generally seen if your phone service is through your ISP as well... if your phone plugs into the modem, it generally includes a battery pack. ISP's around here don't realize this and don't tell you to remove the battery pack. A friend of mine spent 4 hours on the phone with Comcast with no resolution. Took me 30 seconds on the phone to diagnose and tell him how to remedy the problem (by pulling the battery pack out while the modem was unplugged)

Yup, my modem has the built in battery. But can't be disconnected unless you take it all apart. The ISP is Brighthouse, a big player here in central FL.

And you know what's the most stupid thing? When I called customer care (several times), they completely denied that their modem was filtering the mac addresses. I could have saved me hours of troubleshooting if they had just told me that they were doing it.
