Is there any difference between kevlar and wire bead tires other than weight/cost? It seems like wire might be tougher since most DH tires are wire, but I don't really know -
Thanks

Wire is cheaper to make, thus cheaper to sell. Kevlar is stronger that steel, and lighter weight, but more expensive. I've ridden plenty of kevlar tires (bought onsale) but normally run wire beads. I'm not that concerned about a 100 gm on a 35lb. bike....
one of my friends has had kevlar bead tires for quite a while and now the tires are really "loose," meaning, that the bead somtimes just sort of pops out of the rim when he does some drops and stuff, i guess because the kevlar streched out or somthing so its not as tight around the rim anymore. i'm not sure if i'm explaining this very clearly, but either way, go with wire bead, because wire will not strech or get "loose"
