Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Woke up this morning and discovered my bike racks were stolen from my car last night. Idiots dented the roof while removing them from the car to add insult to injury
Does anyone know if all Thule lock cores share a similar key? I know for a fact the racks were locked down.
I am trying not to swear but this is a _______ way to start to day.
I'll be checking Craiglists hoping to add details to my newly filed police report.
If anyone notices Thule Towers, bars, fairing and 2 Peloton roof racks for cheap in the westside from someone that looks suspicious please let me know.

this is happening more, someone tried on mine, took the fairing. Ba%&@£!*..!
Thieves won't be selling them cheap and it's easy money. Ski season is on and there are plenty of buyers. Locks on most racks are a joke to thieves. Put them on when you need to use them and take them off if your car is going to be sitting for awhile. This is opportunity stealing/drive by rips if they happen to see it on your car/truck...and there are plenty of them cruising around looking for an easy score.
This is the start of holiday stealing, so more horror stories are yet to be told. With the current economic conditions, expect to see a rise in home robberies/invasions and on-the-street holdups too. Be careful out there.

Happened to my brother in law. He was parked in North Hollywood for 20 minutes at a friends place. Very ****ty, his Volvo got all f'd up and they just destroyed two og the towers they could not unlock.
roll up a paper with details in your rack tubes and bars people. I am going to do the same.
found this add on cragslist, with pics.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have filed a police report and started my insurance claim. I just received word my insurance company is send a check already for the rack costs. This is why I scan all receipts now.
I looked at the CL link, similar to mine but the nose of the fork mount trays look different than mine, but thanks for the link.
I'm considering trunk mount or another roof mount system, but need something that locks. Sometimes I take my bike to work and the building does not allow bikes inside (Working on this).

Looks like Newport Beach has broken the ring that was involved in these thefts:

Thank you for the story link. I will add this to my police report to see if forensics can match these guys to the print they lifted from my roof.
