Folding Bikes - Antipodean Raleigh Twenty site - looks excellent

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Google alerts just pointed me in the direction of this site which seems like a great new R20 resource. Based in NZ it's the site I never-quite got round to building. Some great pix, including what appears to be a one-model Kiwi racing series!

Start paddling NOW, Aaron....My holidays start in early Jan 2010, we could go then....Ah!! NEW ZEALAND......

It's almost Summer in "The Land of The Long White Cloud",
The Hobbits would be tending their joyous gardens,
Vibrant colours, pretty petals, drunk with,
Rich sweet intoxicating balmy scents,
The verdant pastures swaying lazily in the ethereal zephyrs,
The children playing carefree down softly winding lanes,
Laughing, singing, rolling, hiding, chasing,
Their time away,
No fears, no sadness, no grief or spite,
The terrible Ork has been banished.
Huzzah.

Stevegor the poet.

Thanks for the link. The second photo is taken from the historic Whitestone precinct in Oamaru during the recent Victorian? festival. I didn't go, but I have been to the town and recognise the building and the fact that there is a period costumed Ordinary rider in the background.

I hate to disappoint everyone, but the webmaster is from the "West Island" of New Zealand, most commonly known as "Australia".

As most "Twenty" stories go, I was bitten by the bug when I found the late Sheldon Brown's website, and I fell in love. It took a few months before the opportunity to own a "Twenty" came around, but I seized upon it as soon as it came. At the moment I am negotiating purchase of two more, but this time the non-folding version.

In my research, I gathered enough material from trawling the net and decided that it might make a good website. I also stumbled across the NZ version, which is distinctly different to the standard Twenty. My research is not yet complete, but sources indicate that they were manufactured in Nottingham, Dublin, Canada and NZ.

Now if I managed to save up for an air fare, and had an invitation to stay I think a tour of NZ would be excellent!

Fear not OZ and NZ are on my bucket list. The bride and I are starting to travel a bit more as time allows. I believe the down under trip is being planned for the 2012 travel season.:thumb:

Are you Alecw35s? I have had a few issues with uploads before - but they seem to have been resolved. Do please try again, otherwise contact me at raleightwenty@hotmail.com - email me the pictures you want to upload and I'll arrange to get them up for you.
