Anyone have any advice on buying it?

If it's your one and only bike I wouldn't get an SS, you want an SS? simple solution...find the gear you wanna be in and don't shift.

I'm considering getting one to keep at a beach vacation house I have. It would only be to ride around the beach side and the nearby restaurants and scenery. I'm thinking the little maintenance an SS requires would be ideal for this kind of this. For all other regular trail riding, I won't ride anything other than my 8-speed 3-Chainring FUJI.
If I do get the SS I would put a suspension seatpost and a gel padded comfort seat (two things I wouldn't be caught dead with on the FUJI). You know, make it an all around comfort bike, but keeping the MTB toughness.

Wellllllll....you shold get the SS and it's a 29r so that a super cool bonus. If It was steel then it would be the bombdiggity.
