My little brother (25 yro) is inviting the girl he is dating to NYC. He's looking for advice on what sorts of things to show her while he is in the city visiting family. What sorts of things would be romantic and fun to do in the city? Even though both my brother and I grew up there, I'm not sure what advice to give him since my tastes are very different from his. I mostly do the music scene, not so much general sightseeing...any ideas other people have would be much appreciated!

Lunch at the Jeykll and Hyde Club (http://www.jekyllandhydeclub.com/home.htm), ask to sit near the gargoyle so you can talk to it. Touristy, but fun. If he's going now and she's never been, Radio City Music Hall (http://www.radiocity.com/) Christmas Show is entertaining, otherwise pick some other show on Broadway. Go to Ellis Island to read the diaries of various travelers.

If they are into art, the Metropolitan, or Frick, or Guggenheim, or Morgan are all good choices, depending on tastes. Nice thing about the first three is that they can include a romantic walk through Central Park- a don't-miss during the late fall, to be sure. For eats, I'd head down to the Village. I've not been since they reopened, but they might try Minetta's, which has gotten very good reviews. it's a real classic. If they're into jazz, the Village Vanguard is just one of many good clubs. Sheesh- where to begin? So many choices...

Being a Metro Area transplant it was not too long ago that I was purely a tourist in the Big Apple. Cool things not already mentioned:
Empire State Building
Central Park Zoo and the Balto Statue
Times Square, especially the Hard Rock Cafe
The Subway (seems weird but I am still fascinated by the strange people on the trains)
Rays Famous (the one in SOHO with all the pictures of famous people)
The 59th Street Bridge (I loved the song as a kid and never realized that it was a real place)
Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens (off the beaten path a little, but the Unisphere is still very cool.
The West Village
