Alt Bike Culture - just when i thought i was done the money pulls me back in

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

at first i didnt but ive moved on, i was painting bikes for money but just enough to cover the materials since i love painting but then people tried to lowball me which led to frames getting "halved" and mailed back to their owners. i admit i got bitter gave away all my bikes and vowed never to work on them again and have been keeping to that promise since, only reason i would ever paint a bike again if theres money involved not to cover the costs now its for profit and only if i feel like it. this is a favor for a friend in exchange for a car stereo amplifier

If I was doing it for the love of it, I would have done it for profit or for free. Any where in between and well you know.

I feel you on this one, I have been an auto painter for around 15 years, I-CAR Gold Certified, family has a body shop and I worked at a stealership for about 4 1/2 years. It started out as a love affair, but as you get more involved with the "something for nothiners," it really steals your joy. There are still dozens of people who owe me money for paint work that I have just written off, not worth the headaches, I haven't painted a car in about 2 years, I also quit all together. Now when or if I do it, it will be on my own stuff, I now live in my garage basicly, from one project to the next.:thumb:
