I have yet to find photochromatic lenses that change fast enough to adapt to riding into a tunnel or under an overpass. 100 feet of riding in the dark at speed is not fun.

Last year in March, in Central Park, the clocks moved back the second Sunday, so we started the race before dawn. Several street lamps were out on the park road, so we had several stretches of racing in a pack in the pitch black darkness @ 25-30 mph for several hundred meters.

It was like Space Mountain. It sucked. Fortunately nobody touched wheels.

on a serious note, it'll be interesting to see what the Garmin riders actually wear this year for sunglasses

i am not a fan of lenses changing colors. the delay is always to long and they never get dark/clear enough for me.

Yep, exactly. Good for people who wear glasses all thetime I guess and wear them instead of Rx shades for golf or something, but not great for "changing light conditions" on the road bike.

I don't think that the tea seriously feels they have an advantage however - its just about the money. Paid for by the people who paid extra for Transitions lenses in the first place.

I have bad eyesight and need to wear glasses all the time. My riding glasses have transitions lenses and I love them. I deal with it when I hit a dark patch of road like under heavy trees or a tunnel. If youhave regular dark glasses you will have the same dark glasses on your face when you hit a dark patch of road. htey work great when I ride around twilight and the light changes.

anyone know what glasses they will be wearing next season?
