I know, I know, Blasphemy. I have too many SS frames and nothing else. I'd like to be able to throw a set of gears on an extra frame for grocery runs where I carry more than I like to for fixed riding. I know there has to be something better than a '70s adaptor claw?

You might wanna sell em frames and get a frame that is right for you. I mean you probably aren't gonna like the results anyway with clumsy glob stuck to a neat looking SS ends.

hmm. dmr makes a chaintug with integrated hangar, and vassago makes something called a gearplug to add a hangar to thier ss 29er frames. might be able to adapt that to work

You would have to spread the rear triangle to accept a 130mm hub. Your best bet is to get an internally geared hub.

Here's the thing. I've got an On-one Pompino with 135 rear spacing. Great frame, fits me almost perfectly. I tried to sell the frame over the summer and couldn't get opening bid of $100. I can't sell it for anywhere near what it would run me for a comperable frame. I don't mind running full housing. It's not that absurd of idea.

Tru dat, I didn't even know they made SS frames with such fat spacing. I say go for it.

Many IGH's use 130mm or greater spacing.

There are quite a few ss mountain bikes with 135mm spacing and fixed / ss hubs to match.

white industries makes a freewheel that has 2 sizes on one freewheel, i think this is your best/easiest/best looking/least likely to be made fun of...option

it is called the DOS freewheel and comes in 16t/18t, or 17t/19t sizes, but it is a little pricey, which is why I have not bought one!!!

i have no advice which one but i say go for it. i had 3 perfectly good road bike frames and wanted to try fixed gear so i bought a wheel set with and eccentric rear hub and couldn't be happier with the decision. now i have a record built road bike, a chorus/record fixed gear, a spare frame, and i can mix and match as i desire.
