Conejo Valley - you and I live nearby. The winds here in Topanga are fierce, so no local routes for me. Maybe along the coast for an hour or so.

Rather brisk in the West Valley. Today has become a "rest day" for me, I don't even want to consider northbound on Valley Circle.

I was in the conejo today as well. Had a thought to go out and ride until I walked outside and experienced the wind. No ride today, that's how I dealt with it XD

I have no problem with the wind, actually enjoy it!. But I do throw Gina on the back of the tandem just to save her some grief only cause I want her to continue riding.

Today's 50 miler!:D

BTW, tandem does make it easier for Gina to handle the wind but as far as my ride, single would be easier. Ahh, the things we do for LOVE!:D

Ah yeas, the winds. Had some today as well. North up the coast wasn't too bad, and it made coming back south pretty nice. But holy cow the last 5 miles of my ride, yikes! I'm heading back into town and it hits me. I'm down in the low gear and slogging along at 13 mph. Good thing it was a head wind or it would have knocked me over. What was worse is that had I made my last stop a lot longer, I could have avoided the wind I think. It stopped blowing not too long after I rolled up the driveway.

Beach route was perfect today. If there were winds, I didn't feel them.

I posted a couple weeks ago about riding in the Santa Ana winds. It was a miserable 38 miles before we turned around and got pushed home. In the end, all you can do is hunker down and grind your way along knowing that eventually you'll finish the trip.

There was a huge dust storm blowing down from the San Gabriels yesterday. I'm from Kansas and it was worse than anything I've ever seen. I guess that's how it's gonna be till something strarts growing on the bare mountains.

It was pretty windy up there. Climbing both sides of GMR was a lot of fun. I'd be flying along with a tail wind and then come around a switchback into a full headwind, go around the next switchback and have a tailwind again.

Around here, when the Santa Ana's blow, you either ride or you wish you were. I HATE the wind but I ride anyway because I'm too stupid to stay out of trouble. Then I whine about it to anyone who will listen. :D

The more you ride, the more capable you are and the further you can go regardless of the weather. A huge bonus that most don't think of is that you tend to be less sick with the seasonal bug(s) as a result of all that outdoor activity. So, as you say, suck it up and go ride.

Azusa Canyon (Highway 39) was howling yesterday. We got turned back at the gate where the road has been closed since the 70's. The plan was to push on to Wrightwood after being forced to turn back at Dawson Saddle on Friday due to limited schedule of my riding partner. So on Sunday rather than quitting with only 28 miles ridden we headed out East Fork Road to Glendora Ridge Road to Cow Saddle and back. 72 miles and 10,000 feet of gain. Not a bad day. And not a bad Thanksgiving weekend with 3 rides totaling 143 miles and 19,650 feet of gain.

I did a MTB ride out in Limestone Canyon and nearly got blown off a ridge. Steady 15 or so with gusts to 40 or so.
Sucked to get hit with a gust of sand and pebbles.
Double suckage with my contacts.
