Hello everyone,
I just made a purchase of 4 Peugeots that I think I got a good deal on but wanted to see if you agree. The first is a ladies P18C in a pearl white that maybe has 30 miles on it. Not sure on the year yet, I'll be working on that this weekend. The second is a 86 Red Triathlon PSN 10T with the extra goody bag that has all the spare parts like it said in the catalogue. The third is a 84 Black Metalflake PSV 10N and the forth is a 81 PXN 10 Super Competition in pearl white. All of the models were so well cared for by the guy who orginally bought them that they look as if they were just taken out of the box, Not a scratch on them. All have the original equipment on them as well as the original handle bar tape. The only thing I could find is that the crank arms have some scraches on them when he would take them in and out of his floor model stands, the kind that the crank arm slides into. Other than that you could swear they were new. Got the whole lot for $1100. It's a shame I can't keep them all. I already have three other bikes, a early 80's chrome Rossi, a NOS Romani fully super campied out, and Cinelli I use as my daily trainer. My wife will kill me if she can't move around in the basement without running into a bike. Anyway, I haven't ventured into the Peugeot realm before so I'm asking the experts out there. I think I did ok, at least I feel good about the purchase which is the most important but I'm just wondering if I got a major steal or got it at fair market value. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks to all.

Oh, I forgot, he also through in an extra set of wheels and gave me all the peugeot catalogues from 83 to 89 and a xerox copy of 81. I'll have to scan the good ones and give them to Classic Rendezvous to add to their postings. This attached pic is of the ladies, of course! I'll try to put on the Super Competition on tomorrow. Hope to hear back for some of you.

Wow, I ride an old Peugeot PH501 1985, and looking at that 86 Triathlon, really take me back. They certainly are in ultra clean shape, and almost pristine. I think you did very well. What size is the Triathlon, it looks like a 62 c? Hasta 4 now.

Personally, I'd lean towards keeping the 81 PXN10. Seems a bit pricey to me, but I've never bought a Peugeot post 1980; I just don't seem to run into them (now that I've said that, I'll likely find eight of them in the next two weeks). Thus, I'm not that familiar with the post 1980 models, as I tend to learn about stuff as I happen to find it. And, as I've found out on this board, pricing where I am is likely different than pricing where you are; plus, I really haven't seen the bikes.
The most I ever paid for a bike was 435$ (455$ with shipping) for a 1967 PX10 in very close to immaculate condition.

That's what I'm planning on doing but riding the Triathlon was so cool, it rode beautifully. I'd like to keep that one as well but who know's. They are all supposedly 64cm but I took the tape to it and the seat tube from the center of the crank to the top measured 63cm. They do tend to be a bit tall but my long legs don't have a problem with them although I've been told I should ride a 59cm. As far as the cost for these puppies, take away the $100 the guy wanted for the ladies bike, they all average out to be $333 each. I've heard that the Super Comp's were going for $600 to $700 in LN condition. I figured if I got $300 for each of the other two I'd be happy. I'd end up using those funds to try to find a Dave Moulton frame somehow.
I have an 80's vintage Peugeot that looks just like your black one (except a different base color). I paid $65 for it in a second hand store. Maybe i got a great deal on it. Greanted, it wasn't in pristine condition, but I've upgraded it a little bit, new tires, a new wheel, seat, etc. I"ll try to post a pic if I can remember when I get home.
Matt
Digging through the archives, I saw your old posting. Do you still have the PXN10? Any thoughts of selling it?
