After much trouble-shooting, cable ties, foam, electrical tape (what a weekend I hear you say ) I have finally got to the bottom of the loud metallic clanking that was plaguing my Birdy. The wheel went back to SRAM as they thought it might be their Dual drive hub. Repacked and re-greased it is now, finally, silent.
So the commute this morning was fast, clank-free and as enjoyable as it was the first ride.
