Thanks to everyone for the advice on lighting alternatives, if it hadn't been for the flashlight suggestions I'd be out a few hundred dollars for some lame halogen setup. I'm still running the blinkies on the bike, but this Romisen RC-N3 will be the main light from here on out. First night commute tonight, so I'll add my report later. Also thanks to the poster who suggested using the Livestrong bracelets as the primary band.

Bought the light through Shining Beam as I didn't want to worry about shipping times. Three days to ship from NYC to Los Angles and because the price is so good I'm sending them as xmas gifts.

I know this sounds very shillish, I'm just impressed with the product and service.

Good choice going with SB.. They are fast and have nice products.. I think you will find that a dual light setup works best, one on the bars and other on helmet..

Socal,
I always run 3 lights front and back as I think two is the minimum and you never know when a light may crap out on you.

I like Shining Beam. I have that light and it's a good one.
