So after posting a few annoying noob "kilo vs. BD vs. fill in the blank" posts and debating b/t converting or just finding a bike I like and that fits.... I bought one. Thanks to all who answered all my previous questions.

I got this a week ago and just rode it around the way it was, got a flat and decided to tweak a few things while spending as little money as possible (i have other hobbies that take priority)! Of course if i ever get around to it, i'd love to go for the vintage look of brown brooks saddle and matching bar tape, polished deep vees, the nice chrome cages/pedals with leather straps, quill stem, diff post, etc....but somehow i think i'll always put that money into other hobbies and just ride this the way it is...

So first pic is the way I got it and pic two and three are after taking stickers off rims, putting diff cages on (taking reflectors off the bedals), cutting bars (probably a party faul but I re used the old tape till I buy new) and relocating brake levar (just experimenting for now), putting a cpl little lights so I don't get killed at night. Also zip tied a 15mm under the seat for emergencies and added a beer, err...water bottle cage.

Thank you, I'm mostly into motorcycles but like everything with two wheels so usually have some sort of a bicycle too, I just sold my '56 Schwinn Corvette and got the itch to tinker with something (I like simply single speed bikes). Plus I miss peddling around... Three fity and ya, will keep the tires for the winter plus I like a bigger tire I can do a light trail on, but I might spend a cpl bux and buy summer skinny tires since I like the way they look and seem to be quicker.

Thanks, its really solid and tight, a lot of fun to ride. I'm still debating the sprocket sizes but gotta ride around some more, 39/15 and 16. Tires seem nice Michelin somethings, good grip if they don't look too hipster...seems like a commuter tire. We'll see about the brake (i'm right handed and use to front brakes being on the right on motorbikes vs. the clutch on the left).

I think Deep Vs will kill the vintage look. Box section rims :thumb:

What is with the brake lever placement on the chopped drops? Looks kinda wonky.

I know, I know.....well, b/c surfing, dogs, motorcycles and cars bicycles are kinda at the bottom for the moment. Good call on the rims, I'm still learning the "flavors" and i'll do a lot of research before replacing parts so I do it right. I kind of want to just stick to two colors (i'm werid that way) so its will either be black and brown or black and polished metal. Ahhh....I already dicussed the brake lever! haha...... Thanks, I am so pleased with this frame, seems just strong, durable and well made. Going for a ride....to the lbs to get some tire liners! Its sunny in Seattle!

Thats good? (still a lot to me!) Fishing a bit....I've been told by two people who knew what they were looking that was good (i'm still green to the prices).... I know the frames are spendy though. It was on CL for a loooooong time! There is a virtually brand new killo stripper on there now for $280, was 300 but guy can not sell it, i saw and rode it before i bought this bike (it was too big).

Went on short 20mi ride tonight and well....ugh, brake is going back to the boring old location. Oh well, never hurts to experiment with something different. Loving the bike....solid! Thanks to Charles at Wright Bros for hooking me up with some gloves!

lol, that frame is too big for you, ill do you a favor and buy it off you for $5 :)

Deal?

and btw, i was thinking about hey, thats a smart idea to zip tie a 15mm under the bike seat

then i realized how many times i had the urge to steal wheelsets off a nice bike i saw, but never had the tools at the time LOL

but yeah, you get what im trying to say? i always carry a utility key with me and that would make easy cutting with those zip tie, then I would have the 15mm right there to take off your wheels, given you do not lock them up.

THIS IS ALL HYPOTHETICAL, who has never had the urge? but it takes alot more to do it.

im just saying i bet there would be people who would actually just take the 15 and disassemble your bike in 5min, and you come back to nothing.

Haha...ya, I know what you're saying. Did I mention one of my hobbies is guns? (hypothetically). I'm goin to make a cool holder on the bike somewhere (my idea is to cut the wrench, drill a hole in it then run a pin through it that is attached to the bike then drill the pin and put a tiny lock through that....if you can imagine that. If/when I get around to it). Oh ya and I do run my u lock through my wheels. :)

Thanks, I have been! Putting in tire liners tonight (already got a flat!) and relocating the front brake...adjusting the seat, bars, etc, just some small tweaks.

Yeah it's a sweet ride, my favorite of quite a few I tried. Mine's bone stock still pretty much, I did remove the rear brake and flipped the stem. Pic was taken on the Elliott Bay trail, the one north of downtown.

cool, cool....ya, its weird its like the best fitting/feeling bike i've had that i can remember aside from my old norco mtb. I flipped the stem tonight too and turned down my bars a bit, just got back from a ride too....****, its hard to stay off it, maybe its the novelty of it too, we'll see.

it would suck to race cross with road brakes.
there's no canti-mounts on a steamroller.

Pics of the tiny updates...um, so really same 'ol s**t just stem flipped and bars turned down, look like less of a mountain bike (um, tires...i know)! Went on a nice 37 degree and rain ride today. Good times!
