General Cycling Discussion - Shorts w/o "gripper legs"

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Any women know of cycling shorts (with chamois, wool or lycra) that do not have the rubber or "elastic" leg grippers?

Without the rubber leg grippers, the shorts may ride up you leg. I've shortened some of my shorts by cutting the elastic off and turning the fabric under and hemming. Some of the shorts ride up, some don't, haven't decided whether it is the length that determines whether they ride up or the amount of spandex or fit of shorts.
I have non-chamois lycra type shorts and I've never had a problem.
Maybe I should just cut the hem off.
But I am afraid.

It might be the spandex. I've got a pair of ooolllllllld Tinley's that have most of the rubber stuff worn off. Without the rubber they're actually more comfortable and they don't ride up at all.

Use New Balance running lycra shorts. No padding, but no rubber either.

Terry Commuter skorts have the same thing. Very comfortable.

I bought some Performance Century gel shorts last year that had covered elastic at the legs, but no 'grippers'. Some of the Performance shorts do have the grippers though. If it's not indicated on the web site for whatever model you're interested in, e-mail them to get the detailed specs. :)

performance ultra rolls their hems under and i haven't had a roll up problem (and when i'm riding saturdays and sundays i actually roll the legs up like a cuff to raise my tan line!)
i LOVE the ultra chamois too!
