The official NCNCA road racing calendar has been posted:

http://www.ncnca.org/road/

In addition, details for the 2010 NCNCA Early Bird (EB) training series are posted here:

For new racers or experienced racers who would like to learn + improve their skills, the EBs are a great opportunity.

Although most races in the NCNCA have on-line pre-registration, the EBs do it the good old-fashioned way: show up at the race, fill out a waiver and hand them some cash.

You will need a USA Cycling license to participate in either the clinics or the training races. As a CAT 5 man or a CAT 4 woman, you can purchase a one-day license at the race. Annual USAC licenses are also for sale at the race, but I would recommend purchasing your annual license on-line at http://www.usacycling.org If you purchase your license on-line, you can print an "authorization to ride" and your license is mailed to you almost immediately. If you purchase an annual license at the EBs, you can expect a delay of 6-8 weeks for your license application to be processed.

Thanks for posting this. Now I can start planning out which races I may want to photograph.

It'd be fun to meet some of the BFers out there. Who knows you might be inspired to try it sometime down the road.

Nice! I don't have to show up for an EB until 11:45am!! I'm so used to the 8:00am E5 starts. 3 points till the 4's...

1) w00t for the 4s not being the first race of the EBs
2) un-w00t for making it 4 only. what happened to the 3/4? Too many 3s get caught in 4s crashes?

Looks like no San Jose Classic crit on the calendar this year. :( It was fun to race in downtown SJ, and there's nothing like driving only 10 minutes to get to a race.

Another plug for the EB's. I went to all of them last year and thought they were a great introduction to racing.

And if they're still $16, the EBs are the best racing bargain out there.

SJ Classic was a late addition to the calendar last year. It's promoted by an out-of-district organization. It may very well be added to the calendar at a later date.

Remember, there are always changes and additions (and deletions) to the calendar throughout the year.

Not likely to be trying to race anytime in the foreseeable future. However, I do love to photograph cycling. Maybe someday I'll get to be the one on the back of a motorcycle with a camera.

If in the Chico area during the season, local cycling legend conducts weekly practice crits, time trials, circuit races and/or road races, as well as occasional hill climbs and omniums starting ~ March, continuing through September. There's some fast folk, and others, like me, and even world champion level age (really aged) groupers.

Just holler, I'll be glad to introduce you!
