im swapping components from one frame to another for a friend, and his RD is trashed. it uses a suntour 6 spd indexing system, i was wondering if i can use a suntour RD i get off ebay that was produced before indexing was available. i know that the indexing is built into the shifters, i just wanna be sure that theres no incompatibilities with an older suntour derailleur.

Even tho the clicks are in the shifter, the drerailer also has to have the proper throw ratio.Don't expect a non index RD to know how to dance to an index tune. There is serendipity tho, and sometime it works because of that or because it's close enough.
