Training & Nutrition - Has anyone cycled with a bruised/cracked tailbone?
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
The other day I was testing out my new bike, and for some reason jumped off it via the tip of the seat, which did quite a number on my tailbone. I am still not sure if it's cracked or bruised, but I am sitting on a donut as we speak! :(
Has anyone else done this and continued cycling? Should I be resting it, or just keeping my weight forward? I don't want to make it worse, but I am dying to start riding. Any advice would be appreciated!

It happened to me a year and a half ago. I was cycling and a car turned in front of me and I went right into the hood. As I went into the hood, it bent me over and I had problems with my tailbone for 10 months afterwards. It would hurt to sit down certain ways.

Yeah, i bruised mine after going ass-over on my rollerblades.
Luckily I didn't land right on it, but on about a 45 degree angle.
Very painful; hurt for about a month. I couldn't sit down without feeling it.

If the pain isn't bothering you I don't see any reason to stop.
I know when I passed out and hit broke my tailbone on the corner of the shower I did as little sitting as possible. But there is nothing you can do about a broken tail bone. It takes forever for the pain to go completely away when you sit down on hard things (ie. wooden floors, wooden chairs for too long, etc)
