I was looking around at random stuff and came across this article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_doping_cases_in_cycling) on Wikipedia.

Some of the more talked about cases are there, but also some that I had never heard of. I haven't been following professional cycling for very long, but I know that Merckx is basically the best ever (I guess it could be argued) and even he has been implicated a few times. There are several other cycling legends on the list that I didn't realize were ever accused of doping.

This probably should be in professional cycling, but this is the forum I usually read so I posted it here mindlessly.

That's a long list !!

I think the only argument about the "best" is who's #2.

Lots of missing cases. I was wondering how thickly the article would be printed because doping cases happened virtually weekly in the mid 80s. Banned for 10 days (typically), the rider would "seek to avenge the wrong doing" by winning his next race. He usually did, too, which nowadays would seem like proof that he doped. Back then it was just a more motivated rider. Many of the big names got caught, and many of them were not really penalized too harshly.

There was a site where a guy listed all the doping offenses in cycling. He shut down the site (or stopped updating it) a while ago, when it got to be ridiculous. He had some table type format on his pages, they were maybe light blue in color, and there were maybe 100 things per page, maybe 10 pages? 15 pages? Someone may remember it, I can't find it.
