i read in that "have $1500 to spend" thread that somebody recommended the 2004 Felt F45 for $1500. however, the only dealer in my area just said their price for the F65 was $1300.

what price should one expect to find end of summer on these felt bikes??

Felt's prices have gone up in the past 18months, from when I bought my F35R (Mar 03) they went up, I think, around 250 by June of 03, I think the F30 is somewhere around 500-600 more than mine and the only upgrade is the Al/carbon (from Al) frame and DA STI (from Ultrega), not worth the price in my mind
Sorry I did not actually answer your question, but in general their prices have been increasing

I just bought a Felt F65 for 899.00, it is a 2004 model. My LBS has the brand new model for $1,099.00.

Good Luck,

For about $2800, I got a Felt F30 with a custom F-1 frame ("scandium" the lightest they have), with Mavic Ksirium SSL wheels (swapped out the originals for $250 extra). I was able to get the F-1 frameset because the frameset that came with the F-30 wasn't available in my size (60 cm). The original F-30 retailed for 2319; so, I got a superlight (16 lb) bike with top of of line factory wheel set, FSA carbon-cranks, Dura Ace shifters and derailleur, Ultegra brakes.

Not too shabby.

I got my f45 for just about 1500 around the end of April. That wasn't the regular price for the bike (regular was 1720 or thereabouts) but the shop I ordered it at got some kind of deal from felt for ordering a certian number of bikes and so they gave me a deal for being part of that order.

nice one, nsj.

i think the person at this LBS must have meant the F60, because he specifically mentioned carbon stays and that ain't this: http://www.feltracing.com/F65.html

so Reef, this "brand new model" is it this one for $1099: http://www.feltracing.com/2004_bikes/f60.html
or this one: http://www.feltracing.com/F65.html

i'm a bit skeptical at the value here. 7005 series alum is the cheapest there is, right? seems more comparable to the '04 Fuji Roubaix (which costs around $950 but is just 105). the F60 has an Ultegra/105 mix with "Tektro RX40" brakes (???).

apart from the sexiness factor, the Fuji team looks like better value, with that X-fusion frame with stays and full ultegra for $1400. Fuji Team has the Ritchey Comp Road wheelset, and the F60 has the Formula XR-3 wheelset. i have no clue about either of these.

sadly the LBS doesn't have my size, so there _still won't be any test rides to help me with my Big Decision.

on further inspection it looks like it's the F50 that is the direct competitor to the Fuji Team - roadbikereview.com person said they scored one for $1400 so they're dead even on price.

Actually it's the opposite, 7005 is a stronger alloy

http://www.brucescycleworks.com/tips/tip18.html

edit: Aside form 2014 ... which I don't think is used in bicycle manufacturing (because of weight?)

The one thing I don't understand from reading through that info is that it states 6061 is the better alloy even though it's weaker, but it seems to be speaking from a manufacturing process. :dunno:

To answer your question about the Al, this site gives you a table of the 2000, 6000 and 7000 series of Al,
http://www.brucescycleworks.com/tips/tip18.html

I honestly do not know how 6061 T6 compares price wise to 7005 T6, but an increase in the number of bikes that use the 7005 Al is what I have seen over the past several years

my advise is go with what ever bike is the most comfortable to ride, and enjoy it

The 04 F65 is all aluminum, the 05 F65 has carbon stays. So I paid $899.00 for the one listed on the website, the 05 with carbon stays is $1,099.00 at my LBS. I wanted the 05, but the $200 saving was just too much to pass up.

Good luck,
Richard

looking here: http://www.all3sports.com/product/categoryID/106/Manufacturer/0/ProductID/4418

They don't have the picture, but they say it is yellow with carbon stays. I think maybe the website shows 03 models.

The Felts depend on model year. I paid $1800 for an F35 in April - it was classified as a 2003.5 model. The 2004 was going for over 2k. Now that they are getting a bit more popular, and have them ridden by a few teams - Colavita for one - I guess the prices are going up.

I was eyeballing the Felt F30 (http://feltracing.com/2004_bikes/f30.html), but went to a few local dealers and nobody had them in stock. They gave me $200 off the price of the 2005 Felt F55. It has full Dura-Ace and it very similar to the '04 F35. The only problem is I have to wait until early October to get it. I paid $1799. The only place I could find a picture was a Japanese Website (http://homepage2.nifty.com/saru-teru/riteweytenjikaifeltf55.jpg), but they should be introduced at Interbike (http://www.interbike.com/interbike/index.jsp).

wow so many beautiful Felts.
One day I'll be able to afford something like an F30 and by then I'll be able to truly appreciate it. But for now my bike's just fine for me.

Did you know that Jim Felt helped develop 7005 back when he worked for Easton?

The shop I bought mine at told me that. I was impressed with his knowledge of the company especially considering the salesman that worked with me usually works at the other branch of that shop which doesn't sell the same brands at all.

I sort of bought local... hehe If you consider a 1.5 hour drive local? :P Local shop only had one frame in my size.. what a joke!

WTF???? That looks like a compactish frame!!! If Felt's going compact, I'm definitley looking somewhere else. Please tell me that picture is an optical illusion, and Felt is still making traditional frames.

BTW, an F55 with Dura Ace? What are they putting on their top end models for 05?

Remember, this is a picture from a Japanese site. The photo the dealer showed me from the factory looked normal. This is probably a smaller frame for the market there...

Just and update on the carbon stays thing.. got an email from feltracing. They said the '04 f65 released mid-year and that's the one I have with carbon stays. If it's an f65 without carbon stays it's 03 or older.
