i like the Daily Show, and you can tell that John either doesn't know much about cycling or is very good at pretending he doesn't. i thought the interview was good, even though Stewart buttered Armstrong's ass pretty good. a little ragging on Contador, talk of RadioShack, and Armstrong's new book.

Armstrong is uninspiring and egotistical and this interview shows that pretty well. He has quite an ego and that's what carries him. He's never been a true cyclist like the real Greats in the sport. Despite his Tour rides he'll never compare to Merckx et al. Just my opinion...

:lol: Winning 7 Tours de France, the World Championship, a National Championship, Classica San Sebastian, the Tour of Switzerland, Fleche Wallone, as well as the Tour du Pont and the Tour de Georgia? Sure he's no Eddy Merckx, but this is a tough crowd!

Armstrong definitely comes across as a bloke with his head screwed on tightly. I always felt that cyclists seem to be sound more serious and maybe even smarter than other athletes (All the time reading books on the bus?) Still, there is a sense that Armstrong is a tad charmless in that interview, even a bit stiff and defensive. But there's nothing wrong with that. Now if Andy Schleck did write those diary entries on cycling websites himself, then he really is a funny chap one would like to hang out with.

I didn't think much of Jon Stewart's interview questions, though. Despite the clowning, he can be one of the better interviewers in the business. He usually reads the books by authors he interviews (or fakes it really well). But he didn't seem to have a clue what was in Lance's book.

Oh well, in the entertainment business any exposure is good exposure.

from the day we are born and put into school. we are told to strive for greatness, to be filled with self esteem and self confidance. to reach for the stars..

where the **** do you think that goes when we are adults? why do people always want everyone to seem down about themselves in order to justify their success.


he is a confidant man, i don't know him, and he may not be the best person. but there is nothing wrong with that, we are all imperfect. he loves what he does and he is self confidant, something every human should admire and strive for.

I love Jon Stewart, but he's often kind of a suck-up with celebrity guests, especially non-political ones.

And how much is there really to talk about regarding a picture book? ;)
