5 days ago the dog found me and my girlfriend. We checked her for tags (she had none), then we made it our mission to find the owners. Took her around to most of the neighbors asking if anybody recognized her, posted ad on craigslist, put up posters all around the neiborhood, filed a report with the local police, filed a report with PAWS and the other local animal shelter, took her to the vet to check for a chip (none there)...we've been taking care of her since we found here and it now looks like we are going to adopt her.

Vet says she is about 9 months old and that she is most likely 50% German Shepherd, 25% Chow Chow and 25% Husky. 47lbs and a little skinny. Incredibly smart, obedient and already very loyal. Name's Bella

Bring her to the dog park one day!

I live in Bellevue, and there is an off leash park (Robinswood) near 148th Ave NE and I-90 (across street from BCC). If you bring her up on Sunday morning around 11, all of us greyhound weridos will be there. :)

I think they know when you rescue them. She's going to be very faithful to you. All of mine are, and all of mine were rescues. Good on you for giving Bella love.

I personally like Robinswood better. Marymoor is much bigger, but that causes other problems....my 1st time at Marymoor I "lost" one of my dogs for nearly an hour because he wandered off and was apparently always in another section than the one I was looking. Plus I've heard stories about dogs getting sick at Marymoor. The big issue, for me, is that its not 100% fenced. The entry ways have no gates, so dogs can get out.

Robinswood is much smaller, but not horribly small. Big enough they can get a run in and room to play with other dogs. And it's FULLY fenced with a standard 2-gate entry way.

If you come on a Sunday 11ish, look for a guy with two brindle greyhounds, one in red bandanna and one in a blue bandanna.

KT what do you mean the dogs are getting sick? From what?

KingTermite

Rumor has it that nobody picks up the poo and between that and possibly something else there (in the ground/dirt) that dogs are getting in to, dogs are getting sick. This is all here-say though.

There is another park at Mercer Island that was just upgraded to a really nice park. It's pretty big, full fenced and on the water (lake washington), but I've heard rumors there about dogs getting sick too. I heard (again, not sure how reliable the source is....the local park "know it all") that the contractors used the wrong kind of sand and when it rains it keeps the poo germs in the sand so some dogs have got some e coli infections or something of that nature.

Wow. It's that big huh? Ours is a good size but it's small enough that if someone does not pick up after their dog the rest of us will see. And every morning the maint guys come and do their thing before opening.

There's an area about an hour's drive from me that is notorious for having some kind of spores in the dirt.. They've discovered that while developing the land for residential all the machinery and stirring up is putting those spores into the air and some people are having respiratory issues. Im not sure what it's called though. That was just what was being said.

Why the hell don't they make sense to you? The notion of "pure bred" dogs is entirely a human invention, many pure bred breeds are fraught with congenital diseases etc. "Mutts" generally are healthier, isn't that what is important? I'm very annoyed with you for saying that. The idea of "pure bred" is completely idiotic.

Wow. It's that big huh?
40 acres, and not all open. Lots of trees and shrub for dogs to "play" in.

I think you misunderstood Timber_8. I'm pretty sure he has nothing against mixed breeds. I believe what he meant, and I agree, is that for those who don't know all the various breeds that well, he doesn't understand how they can come up with the mixed breed percentages. The OP posted percentage of various breeds which most likely match the dog "50% German Shepherd, 25% Chow Chow and 25% Husky". I'm sure Timber_8 will correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh...well, my argument still stands: mutts = healthier.

Incidentally, I adopted my particular mutt from the SPCA when he was 1.5 years old.
