I'm just crazy with happiness today: I took my first ride on the road four months and one week after a car driven by a reckless driver hit me and broke my leg badly and wrecked my bike. About a month ago, I bought a new old beater to use on the trainer and get me going again. For the past three weeks I have been using it on the trainer and today I got myself up to 92% of MHR. I decided it was time to see just how my leg would feel in a real cycling situation. I just rode for a few blocks, but I felt good and the beater, 17 (+or -) year old Fuji Club, turned out to be a sweet bike on the road. So after a very trying four months I really feel lucky.

Now here's the really good part, I finally get the custom bike I ordered 10 months ago. Two days before I was hit, my custom Mondonico frame arrived from Italy to the shop in Santa Clara. Just before I got wheeled into surgery, I had the presence of mind to call the bike shop and tell them not to build yet. Today, I was able to make a much happier call: to tell them to go ahead and build my dream bike.

I just want to thank again all the people here who wished me well right after the collision and sent me messages of support during my recovery. It is so great to be back!
