Road Cycling - I got the new XXX race lite wheels in today.

First, I have to say, oh my god! The lightest pair of wheels I have ever picked up. WOW!!!

They are the Triple X-lite wheels by bontrager, 2005. It's the same wheel set that lance used on the L' Alpe D'huez (sp?) time trial.

Carbon Fiber wheel, $1600 retail.

If your LBS gets a set in, take a trip just to pick them up. It's worth it. I honestly couldn't believe how light they were.

BTW, if you're over 160lbs, don't bother getting a set :D

Are you familiar with other high end racing wheels to compare these against, like Zipp 303s?

I'd also like to know if you've compared them with any of the other high end carbon tubulars like the 202's, 303's, Renold's Stratus DV, etc. Will you be using them solely as a climbing wheel, or as an every day wheel?

I dont think he will using them for anything. He works at a bike shop and they have them for sale.

Ah, missed that part in my excitement. I'm really in a pickle myself, on one hand I'm semi-considering a set of race only carbon tubulars, but then on the other hand I hate my current wheels and wish there was a cheaper set of light weight medium profile wheels I could use everyday. Oh well, it would be a ways off anyways :(

sounds sweet. though i held a set of Zipp 202s the other day--1000 grams TOTAL. almost uncomfortably light. of course, you pay about $1.50 a gram...
