Been wanting a 50's style Rat bike for a while now and it never really occurred to me that I had a pretty decent bike already to work with. I have an all black aluminum cruiser bike with a very cool frame, so yesterday I made a project out ot it. I put some low bars with Oury grips on it, painted the front fork to match the bike, it was grey, then fabbed me up a frame insert for an old school number, its about 2 and a quarter inch thick. Painted it all black to match the frame, then hand painted the number 57 on it, just because my dream machine has always been a 57 Chevy 2 door. What do you guys think?:thumb:

This looks very nice. Lots of simplicity.

Thanks, that is exactly what I was shooting for, in a world full of gears and levers,
hustle and bustle, its nice to just sit back on a big cushy seat with a coaster brake
and just roll old school.:thumb:

I like the bike, but those are riser bars, not drop bars.

Thanks, I meant to put low bars, because the ones that were on it before had about a 5 inch rise on them.

You have the front and rear tire labels on opposing sides of the bike. They should not only be on the same side, (drive?) but on this bike I would black 'em out with a fat marker.

Oh, and it's also crying out for skull valve caps!

Cool bike... I like! :thumb:

If the tires are directional then you would want to run it backwards on the front. That may be the case here.

Its cool overall, but that stem really sticks out as way too tall and the only piece of chrome on the bike.

Or dice.

Or maybe a couple of 8-balls

The pedals have chrome too.

2.5 inches thick of what? Wood? I like Heinz 57 theme myself. Nice looking build but I agree with others that the stem might not belong.

Dice stem caps, and definitely do something with the stem and pedals.

Other than that, I want one of these...badly. I would cruise around the campground all damn day long on this thing.

Agreed, awesome bike but the stem needs a change. even ano the stem black but at that point you could probably get something sick a rat style.
