Alt Bike Culture - Ski bikes

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Well, with winter coming up I figured it'd be appropriate to build a ski bike. Right now I've got a bike and a ski, need some hardware. Any else have one in the works or have one to post up?

Yeah, I've seen that but too pricey for my budget. So for around 25$ and some creativity, this is what I have at the end of the day: http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u295/Shokd/IMG_1678.jpg
That's a whole lot of sharp edges sticking out waiting to slice and dice. Is there clearance to flip that angle so the edges are at least pointed in?

Hah, yeah.... wouldn't fit the other way. I'll most likely cover the edges in some duct tape, or something.
You're going to have problems with the front brakes.

I built something quite similar and determined that it would would work
better with the pivot point closer to the ski rather than at the fork dropouts.
I also had front brake issues

Haha. I still haven't even ridden it... no snow! And who wants brakes anyways? They just make you go slower. :D

Yeah, maybe a lower pivot point offers more control.

Huh, I actually have an old razor scooter. Lol. Anyways, just putting a ski on was enough for my small brain, forget making a lower pivot point! Haha
